Benjamin C. Penwell, 83, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019.
Benjamin was born April 13, 1936 in Rising Sun, Indiana to Benjamin C. Penwell and Mary (O’Connor) Dean and he was the oldest of 12 children.
Benjamin worked as a welder. He served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion post 295 in Union Mills, Indiana.
He is survived by his children, Tina Jackman of Strasburg, Virginia, Steve (Nicole) Penwell of Banbridge, Ohio, June Cox of Leesburg, Ohio, Ervene Shuck of Front Royal, Virginia, Joseph Penwell of Strasburg, Virginia, Ryan (Lynn) Kellogg of Michigan City, Indiana, Carey Kellogg of La Porte, Indiana and Shelby Kellogg of La Porte, Indiana; 31 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Blonde Polick and Betty (Charlie) Wilson both of La Porte, Indiana; and special friends, Arnette Kellogg, Phyllis Calhoun and Shirley Todd.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
