Barbara Kay VanArkel, 79 of La Porte, Indiana passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019. She was born, January 3, 1940 in La Porte, Indiana to Tony and Theresa (Napierala) Dmitras.

On December 29, 1962, Barbara married Lawrence “Hank” VanArkel who preceded her in death on September 11, 2006. Barbara leaves behind a son, Michael (Susan Murray) VanArkel of Michigan City, Indiana; and her companion, Curt Ladewski.

Barbara was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Polish Falcons, PRCU, V.F.W. Post #1130 Women’s Auxiliary, and the American Legion Post #434 Women’s Auxiliary.

Burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117, Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana 46350.
