Victor Henry Hockney, 86, of Union Mills, Indiana passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015. He was born May 5, 1928, in La Porte, Indiana to William Charles and Hattie (Felton) Hockney.
Vic was a Farmer and a former Guard at Westville Correction Facility. He had also been employed with Clark Equipment and National Can.
Vic served in the U.S. Army in the Occupation of Japan and the Korean Conflict and received a Bronze Star Medal. He was a member and usher at St. Peter Catholic Church, La Porte. A 50 year member of the American Legion, Post 295, Union Mills, where he served as a Past Commander. A volunteer for Meals on Wheels and enjoyed bowling and gardening.
On April 19, 1952, Vic married Betty Rose Granat who survives. Surviving with his wife of 62 years are children, Mark (Annie) Hockney of Hillsborough, North Carolina, Gary Hockney of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Kirk (Jeanine) Hockney of Zionsville, Indiana; grandchildren, Jessica (Norm) Hicks of Apex, NC, Amanda (Curtis) Hockney of Greensboro, NC, Nicole (Fiancé, Andrew) Hockney, of Eugene, Oregon, Sgt. Garrett Hockney, Germany, Ashley Hockney of New York, New York, Keegan Hockney of Union Mills, Indiana; and a great-great grandson, Riley Reagon Hicks.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015, Essling Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015, St. Peter Catholic Church, La Porte, Indiana with a visitation at 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery.
