Steven Glenn Gilliland

Steven Glenn Gilliland, 64, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Friday, December, 19, 2014.  He was born May 21, 1950 in La Porte, Indiana to Glenn R. and Dixie (Morning) Gilliland.  Steven retired in 2010 after 39 years as an Electrician with Bethlehem Steel and ArcelorMittal.  

On June 26, 1971 Steven married Lynne Ann Lehker who preceded him in death on August 9, 2013.  He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jane Gilliland.

Steven is survived by a daughter, Stephanie (Adam) Smith of La Porte; sons, David (Meghan) Gilliland of La Porte, Brad (Melissa ) Moore of Winter Park, Florida; grandchildren, Parker, Giovanna, Lauren, Grant, Brynnley, and Faith; a sister, Kathleen (Mike) Christian of Fort Worth, Texas; and a brother, Edward (Marie) Gilliland of La Porte.

Steven received an associate’s degree from PNC, was a member of the United Steel Workers of America Union # 6787, and a former US Merchant Marine.  He coached Little League and enjoyed camping and also enjoyed spending time with his family and being a grandpa. 

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2014, Essling Funeral Home, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2014, Essling Funeral Home, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
