Ronald E. Harenza

Ronald E. “Ron” Harenza, 68, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018.

Ron was born July 6, 1949 in La Porte, Indiana to Frank Harenza and Jane (Niepostyn) Worthington.

On June 26, 1971, Ron married Judy A. Bennitt who survives.  Also surviving is a daughter Tara Harenza; a son John (Holly) Harenza; two grandsons, Hayden and Brock Harenza; mother-in-law, Helen M. Bennitt, Indiana; a sister, Nancy Harenza of Willis, a brother, Mike (Chris) Harenza; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Thelma (Martin) Eigenmann; and a brother-in-law, Harold Bennitt Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; a nephew, Matt Harenza; and father-in-law, Harold Bennitt Sr.

Ron retired from New York Blower as a machinist/welder after 43 years of service, he graduated in 1967 from Rolling Prairie High School where he and his wife Judy were Prom King and Prom Queen, he also was on the Rolling Prairie Class of 1967 Reunion Committee, he built Rolling Prairie Mobile Home Park in the 1960’s, a member of P.N.A. and enjoyed his P.N.A. family, a member of Sacred Heart Church, a Corvette enthusiast, and enjoyed attending all of his grandkids events and practices, they were the love of his life.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.  A Parish Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, 201 Bach Street, LaPorte, Indiana 46350. Family and friends may gather at 10 a.m. in the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the Mass. Reverend Ian Williams will officiate.  Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery.
