Robert Earl Swanson

Robert Earl Swanson, 74, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Friday, April 21, 2017, at Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Michigan City. 

Robert is the son of the late Earl William and Leona Mary (Cernek) Swanson, He was born August 10, 1942, in La Porte.  Robert retired from Roll Coater in La Porte after many years of service.  

Robert leaves behind a daughter, Tracy Swanson of La Porte; a son, Scott (Crystal) Swanson of Benton Harbor, Michigan; three step grandchildren, Jesse, Brian, and Amber Keith; five step great-grandchildren; sisters and a brother, Shirley Ann Lhotka of La Porte, Judith Kay Ford, Carol Lee (James) Miller of New Port Richie, Florida, David Arnold Swanson of La Porte, and Becky Sue Blake of La Porte.  A son, William Edwin Swanson, and a sister, Nancy Joan Werts preceded him in death.

Robert served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 83 in La Porte.  He formerly belonged to the Beachwood Men’s Club. 

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the funeral home where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
