Patricia J. (Harayda) Deuitch

Patricia J. Deuitch, 81, of Hamilton Communities, New Carlisle and formerly of LaPorte, Indiana passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015. Patricia was born March 25, 1933 to Alexander and Dorothy (Matkey) Harayda.   Patricia was a pediatric nurse at St. Anthony hospital in Michigan City, Indiana as well as LaPorte Hospital in LaPorte, Indiana.

Patricia is survived by two daughters, Theresa (Jim) Johnson of Fort Pierce, Florida and Mary (Dave) Hucksted of LaPorte, Indiana and one son, Richard (Jim Pauley) Deuitch of Granger, Indiana. Patricia was a loving grandmother to four grandchildren, Kevin Hucksted of LaPorte, Jessica (K.C.) Frye of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Cory (Jennifer) and Mike Johnson of Fort Pierce, Florida. She was also blessed with six great grandchildren, Danielle, Ryan, Patrick, Alexis, Brooklyn, and Brennan. Also surviving is one sister, Carol (Jim) Eppert of South Bend, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. The family of Patricia would like to thank her Caregivers and Nursing Staff and Hamilton Grove Communities.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Don and Ken Harayda.

Patricia was also a member of St. Peter Catholic church in LaPorte. She was a loving mother and grandmother and because of her love for children, she became a pediatric nurse. Her family was the pinnacle of her existence; nothing made her more proud, or more happy.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015, Essling Funeral Home, Frank L. Keszei, Funeral Director, 1117 Indiana Avenue.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2015, St. Peter Catholic Church.  Friends may gather at 9 a.m. Friday in the Essling Funeral Home prior to the Mass. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org or Hospice Foundation at foundationforhospice.org.
