Margaret A. Buerger

Margaret A. Buerger, 84, of LaPorte, Indiana passed away Friday, September 11, 2015.  She was born February 12, 1931 in LaPorte to Joseph and Katherine (Plumback) Buerger.

Margaret graduated from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in 1952, Purdue University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree, and Indiana University in 1977 with a Master of Science degree.

Margaret started working at Holy Cross Hospital in 1952.  She held the positions of Director of Nursing from 1966-1976 and Director of Patient Care Services from 1976-1978 at LaPorte Hospital.  She later established her own business, ProTem Inc., Professional Nurses for Temporary Service.

Margaret leaves behind several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grandnieces; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Buerger of LaPorte Indiana.   She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary H. Swanson; and brothers, John F. Buerger, and Robert C.Buerger.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2015, Essling Funeral Home-Frank L. Keszei Funeral Director, 1117 Indiana Avenue, LaPorte, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015, St. Peter Catholic Church, where she was a member.  Family and friends may gather a 9 a.m. Thursday in the Essling Funeral Home prior to the Mass.
