Lucille (Wieck) Shaver

Mrs. Lucille Shaver, 94, formerly of LaPorte, Indiana, died Friday, June 26, 2015 at 5:55 a.m., at Woodland Terrace Assisted Living Center, Bridgman, Michigan.  The funeral will be Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 1 p.m., at the Essling Funeral Home-Frank L. Keszei Funeral Director, 1117 Indiana Avenue, LaPorte, Indiana, with Reverend Chris Noffke officiating.  Visitation will be at the Essling Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the same day.

Lucille was born October 30, 1920, in Billings, Missouri, to Otto Reinhold Theodor Wieck and Emile Pauline (Kruger) Wieck, and lived in LaPorte most of her adult life.  She moved to Indiana from Missouri to work at the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant during World War II, and met her husband LeRoy Shaver in LaPorte.  They were married on June 15, 1946 in LaPorte.  Her husband, LeRoy passed away April 5, 1991.

Lucille had been active in the LaPorte Chapter 280 Order of Eastern Star, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, and was a Republican Committeeman helping with voter registration for many years.  She enjoyed playing bingo, going out to eat, sewing, and being a good mother and wife. 

Survivors include her son, George E. Shaver, and wife Carol Ann of Bridgman, Michigan; plus two grandchildren, Caroline and Edward.  Lucille’s parents, her sister, Louise Bluebaum, and a brother, Arthur Wieck, all of Billings, Missouri preceded her in death.
