Louis J. Mender

Louis J. Mender, 87 of LaPorte, Indiana passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014.

Louis was born October 22, 1927 in East Chicago, Indiana to John and Ella (Gorance) Mender.  He retired after 42 years with LTV Steel as a Crane Operator.

On August 28, 1958, Louis married Arlene Oberg who survives.  Also surviving are two daughters, Cheryll (Andy) VanWaardenburg of LaPorte, Laurie (Jim) Day of LaPorte; a son, Thomas (Kari) Mender of LaPorte; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Kristina, Cody, Heidi, Sarah, Victoria, Matthew, Erin, Max; great grandchildren, Ele, Brier, Hudson; sisters, Dorothy Hickey of California, Lois (Peter) Dosen of Merrillville, Indiana; and a brother Richard Mender of Chicago Heights, Illinois.

Louis was a Navy Veteran of WWII.  He loved nature and planting trees, but mostly loved his family.
