Josephine Marie Moryl, 82, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Friday, July 15, 2016. Josephine was born March 28, 1934 in La Porte to Casimer and Catherine (Klimek) Moryl. She had formerly been employed with Lenicks Dairy, Athletic Shoe Company, Woolworths, and retired from American Rubber Company after 43 years of service.
Josephine was a member of the following: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Altar & Rosary Society and had sung in the Choir, the Polish Falcons Nest #654, and served as Treasurer and on the Board of Directors, Pi Epsilon Kappa Alpha Omicron Sorority, P.N.A. Club, Friends of the Library, P.N.A. Drum and Bugle Corps, and La Porte Democratic Women’s Club. She graduated from La Porte High School and the Reese School of Business. In 1955 Josephine was selected Queen of the La Porte Jaycee 4th of July Parade, served as secretary of the First Ward Betterment Group, secretary of the P.R.C.U Club, assistant instructor of Jan Griswold, and attended the Knights of Columbus, and volunteered with the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.
Josephine is survived by many nieces and nephew, and grand and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Kay Lanko, Florence DeVoney, Mary Moryl, Cecelia “Tessie” Moryl, Frances Chudzynski, and brothers, Frank, Stanley, Ted, Robert and Teddy Moryl.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, ESSLING CHAPEL, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte, with Reverend Ian Williams officiating. Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Parish, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Share Foundation, or Michiana Resources.
