Mr. John C. Anders, 84, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born August 26, 1931 in Concord, Tennessee to Elsie (Wright) and Chester Anders; however, he was raised by Roscoe and Elsie (Wright) Harmon.
On December 15, 1951 in LaPorte, Indiana, John married Edith “Edie” Alsop who passed away January 14, 2013.
John was a member of LaPorte Missionary Church and served on several committees. John was employed at New York Blower Co. from 1950-1996 and served as a member of New York Blowers Board of Directors for 19 years. He also was an active member of the LaPorte Chamber of Commerce as well as other manufacturing associations. He had a bachelor’s degree in accounting and served in the Korean War from 1952-1954. John especially enjoyed traveling and wintering in Venice, Florida with his beloved wife Edie.
John leaves behind two daughters; Brenda (Joe) Pavolka and Linda (Dana) Wade both of LaPorte, Indiana, four grandsons; Nicholas (Lindsey) Wade, of Washington DC, Bret Wade of Washington DC, Joseph (Susie) Pavolka of Indianapolis, Indiana and Andrew Pavolka of South Bend, Indiana, one great-granddaughter; Ryan Edy Pavolka and one great-grandson; Thomas Grey Pavolka, four brothers; David Harmon, Frank Harmon, Ronald Harmon all of Harriman, Tennessee, and Harold Anders of Dalton, Georgia, one sister; Mary Blair of Dalton, Georgia
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2015, Essling Funeral Home-Frank L. Keszei Funeral Director, 1117 Indiana Ave, La Porte, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015, Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, Indiana with Reverend Carl Galloway officiating, where friends may visit from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
