Jim E. Lange

James “Jim” E. Lange of LaPorte, Indiana passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2015, in his home surrounded by his loving family, due to complications from COPD.

Jim was born September 10, 1946 in LaPorte, Indiana to William and Edith (Edwards) Lange.

He was the owner of Diedrich Drill, Inc. since 1990 and was previously employed with Teledyne Casting Service for many years.

Jim is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jean (Finnan) Lange of LaPorte Indiana; daughters, Jessica (James) Arnold of LaPorte, and Allison Lange of Sherman Oaks, California; grandsons, Jamison and Jack Arnold; a brother, William (Dorcie) Lange of LaPorte; a sister, Linda (Richard) Armstrong of Bristol, Indiana; several cousins; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joan McCullough, and his parents.

Jim was a 1964 graduate of LaPorte High School.  He received a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science Degree in Industrial Administration from Purdue Krannert School of Management.

He served in the United States Air Force, where he took full advantage of the opportunities available to him during his time in the service. Jim and Jean spent many vacations over the years in Key Largo, Florida.  He loved to play golf and fish. He had a great sense of humor, he never knew a stranger, and had a smile for everyone. He loved living in LaPorte and it was important to him to show his appreciation of the people who live and work here.

A memorial visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday April 4, 2015, Essling Funeral Home, Frank L. Kezsei, Funeral Director, 1117 Indiana Avenue, LaPorte, Indiana.
