Jerry Allen Henry

Jerry Allen Henry, 71, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016.  He was born November 21, 1944 in Winamac, Indiana to John and Mollie (Leonard) Henry.  Jerry retired in 2004 with 26 years of service as a Lineman and Installer from Verizon Communications, formerly GTE and had previously been with Modine Manufacturing in La Porte.

On July 24, 1965, Jerry married Sylvia Czanderna.  Jerry & Sylvia were married for 51 grateful years; two sons, Jeffrey (Tara) Henry of Bloomington, Illinois, Steven (Melissa) Henry of San Diego, California, six grandchildren, Bella (12), Poppy (9), Juniper (5), Weston (8), Cayenne (5), Beauden (4 mo); sisters, Jane Cuellar of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Judy Emigh of La Porte, Indiana, June Crouse of Massachusetts; and many loving nieces and nephews.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack Henry.

Jerry was the cornerstone of his family with unwavering love and devotion for his wife.  He spent his entire adult life providing for his wife and family.  Everyone who knew him was touched by his unbreakable trust and integrity.

Jerry spent his retirement years traveling with Sylvia and spending time with his sons and grandchildren.  He was a semi-professional Trap shooter participating in annual local and national tournaments around the country.  He was also a member of the Stillwell Rod and Gun Club and a long standing member of the N.R.A.   

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, ESSLING CHAPEL, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a memorial service will follow the visitation at 11 a.m.
