James L. Tarnow

James L. Tarnow, 64, of Porter, Indiana, formerly of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Saturday March 14, 2015.  James was born September 26, 1950 to Raymond and Margaret (Ritt) Tarnow.

James is survived by his loving wife Mary (Chance) Tarnow; two sons, James (Kristin) Tarnow II of Temecula, California and Joseph (Kate) of Lowell, Indiana.  He was also blessed with five grandchildren, Tiffany, Lexee, Lucas, Kendall, and Michael Tarnow; two sisters, Margaret (John) Harris of Falkville, Alabama and Jan (Larry) Craft of Knox, Indiana; two brothers Larry (Barb) Tarnow of Canyon City, Colorado and Rod (Chris) Tarnow of Knox, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; Betty Nelson and Marjorie Ella Tarnow; and a twin great niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Ryan Beadles.

James retired from Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore after 30 years of service.  He was a U.S. Marine serving in Vietnam and was a Disabled American Veteran.  He grew up in the Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesday March 18, 2015, at Essling Funeral Home, Frank L. Keszei, Funeral Director, 1117 Indiana Avenue, LaPorte, Indiana.  Funeral services will be Thursday March, 19, 2015 at 11 A.M. , Essling Funeral Home, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Door Village Cemetery with Military honors.
