James Paul Plenus

James Paul Plenus 76 of LaPorte, Indiana passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015.

James was born on July 15, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Paul and Dorothy (Mezydlo) Plenus.  He retired in 2001 from Anco, Federal-Mogul in Michigan City working in the test lab and as a photographer.

On July 11, 1959, James married Margaret Mikulski who survives.  James leaves behind his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Kathleen (James) Mentz of Elkhart; two sons, David (Debbie) Plenus of Crown Point, Indiana and Mark (Kathy) Plenus of Schererville, Indiana; five grandchildren, Stefan (Emily) Plenus, Jennifer (Justin) Zambrano, Megan Plenus, Kevin & Erin Plenus; a brother-in-law, Richard (Carol) Mikulski; a niece and nephew, Lynn (Sam) Heitz and Steven Mikulski; and several cousins. 

James was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in LaPorte, the Duneland Railroad club, and volunteered at the LaPorte Museum, the Door Village Festival, and with Meals on Wheels. 

Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015, Essling Funeral Home-Frank L. Keszei Funeral Director, 1117 Indiana Avenue, LaPorte, Indiana, where a funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating.
