I met Irene at my Dad's funeral (Vernon Ralph Higgins) - they were cousins. Irene was my dad's best and favored cousin. They talked about wanting to live to be 100 or more and Irene DID IT!! My dad passed at 96 yrs. Irene was very nice, beautiful and had class (and so did my dad). I had the opportunity to meat Irene's immediate family and they were so pleasant. My thoughts and prayers go out to them and our family - as we are all related. God Bless and Keep our souls - here and in the hear after.

I didn't get to know Irene well but the few times that I was able to meet and visit with her, she proved to be a delightful and charming lady! I was amazed at how young she was still looking and had no idea she was over 100. I'm so very glad that I was able to meet her through our DAR chapter in La Porte. My (and DAR's) sympathy goes out to all of you for your loss of such a lovely person.
