Helen E. (Johnson) Bernacchi

Helen E. Bernacchi, 92, of La Porte, Indiana, entered into eternal peace on Friday, February 17, 2017. Helen was born April 18, 1924, in Ronneby, Sweden to Joel and Matilda (Magnuson) Johnson. 

On August 24, 1941, Helen married Victor Bernacchi, who preceded her in death on May 10, 2001. Helen was a homemaker.

Our family would like to thank mom’s care special caregivers, Ronnie Allen & Bernie Debew; La Porte healthcare nurse, Sue James, &; the Franciscan Hospice care unit for all their excellent and loving care of our mother.

Helen leaves many fond memories to be cherished by her daughter, Judith (John) Hannon of La Porte, Indiana; sons, Gerald V. (Joan) Bernacchi and Roger W. Bernacchi of La Porte, Indiana; grandchildren, Dr. Nicole (Russ) Roberson, Cory (Dayna) Hannon, and Matthew E. Bernacchi; great-grandchildren, Emma, Tyler, and Madison; and a brother, Ted (Claudia) Johnson of Rockledge, Florida. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a sister, Alice Walton.

Visitation for Helen will be from 10 to 12 noon on Friday, February 24, 2017, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Ave., La Porte, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Friday, February 24, 2017, immediately following the visitation at the funeral home, with Deacon Bob Bucheit officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Franciscan hospice in Michigan City, Indiana.
