Gregory R. Mannia

Gregory R. Mannia, 93, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday, April 13, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.

Gregory was born June 20, 1923 in La Porte, Indiana to William and Katherine (Stackowski) Mannia.

Gregory was a Machinist and Carpenter and had worked with Allis Chalmers in La Porte.

On May 14, 1949 Gregory married Eleanor A. Witka.

Gregory is survived by his wife, Eleanor; four daughters, Carol Mannia of Valparaiso, Indiana, Mary (Peter) Nielsen of LaPorte, Indiana, Janet Hatton of North Judson, Indiana and Margaret (Larry) Garrett of LaPorte, Indiana; one son, Gregory (Donna) Mannia of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and six grandchildren, Nicholas Strohl, Shara Hatton, Nicole, Scott, Tony Mannia, and Ashley Nielsen, and one great-grandchild, Penelopi Mannia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Gregory was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Falcons, PRC and VFW.  He also served his country in the Air Force.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.  A Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 C Street, La Porte, Indiana.  Reverend Ian Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery with military honors.  Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
