Geraldine (Moss) Bennett

March 18, 1930 ~ February 16, 2015 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Geraldine "Jerry" Bennett, 84, of South Bend, Indiana passed away in her home Monday, February 16, 2015.  She was surrounded by her loving family with a hockey game on in the background.

Jerry was born March 18, 1930, in South Bend to Kenneth and Linda Moss.  She was a loyal wife, incredible mother, a beacon of strength as a sister, aunt and “nana”, and a wonderful friend and mentor to many. Jerry managed the Pro Shop at Playland Park Golf Course for many years where she developed friendships that lasted throughout her life.

On September 9, 1947, Geraldine married William Harris Bennett who preceded her in death in 1994.  She is survived by a daughter, Cindi (Paul Byers) Bennett-Mark of South Bend; a son, Tim Bennett of Chicago/Los Angeles; grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Mark; great grandchildren, Ashton, Brendon, and Brent; a brother, Eddie Moss of Mishawaka;  sister, Lucille Allison of South Bend.

Jerry was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, William H. Bennett II in 2006; sisters, Pat Lutz, Kathryn Gettinger (John), Dolores Ann Brenton (Gilbert); and brothers, Charles (Sonny) Moss (Betty); Ted Moss, and Carol Moss.

Jerry was a loyal member of St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend.  Her incredible wit and sense of humor were a gift to all who knew her as laughter surrounded her always.  She was an avid euchre player, traveling with her band of hooligan friends who played at Howard Park, St. Joe Club, Eagles in Mishawaka, Moose in Elkhart, K of C in South Bend and assorted games across the county. There are euchre decks and slot machines weeping across the county.

Jerry moved on from this world with some extra love from Barbara and Alice Lerman, Paul Byers, Cammie Jo Roberston, Eloisa Gonzalez, Liz Fleming, Daria Dieter, Ellie Brown, Erin DeDapper, Matt Webster and the staff at St, Jospeh Regional Medical Center. These beautiful spirits provided the perfect amount of love and support for Jerry.
