Florence "Daisy" (Johnson) Schoof

Florence “Daisy” L. M. Schoof, 89, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016.  She was born May 23, 1927 n La Porte, Indiana to John and Karin (Johanssen) Johnson.  Florence retired from the La Porte Superior Court 3 and had previously been employed with the La Porte County Court and the La Porte City Court. 

On September 30, 1946 Florence married Gerald Schoof who preceded her in death on October 10, 1991. She was also preceded by a daughter, Lynn Michaels on February 14, 2015, a brother, Bert Johnson, and by her parents.

Florence leaves behind a daughter, Dottie (Phil) Hula of La Porte; a son, Gary (Margaret) Schoof of La Porte; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and her best friend, David Russell of La Porte. 

Florence was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in La Porte and sang in the Choir.  She graduated from La Porte High School in 1945.  She supported many causes in the community, her favorites being the La Porte Symphony Orchestra and Arts in the Park.  She attended as many events as she could for her family, friends and for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was always there to help others and a caregiver to many.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, ESSLING CHAPEL, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Bethany Lutheran Church in La Porte, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Patton Cemetery.
