Welcome to the memorial page for

Eugene S. Kosior

January 15, 2018

Eugene S. Kosior, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Monday, January 15, 2018.

Eugene was born in Krasne, Poland to Maria (Szynal) Kosior.

On June 19, 1955, Eugene married Julia Jucha who survives.

Eugene was a farmer throughout his life in Poland.  He and his mother survived World War II through hard work and determination living off their small farm until he and Julia married.  In Poland, Eugene served his community in several ways; as a forest ranger/public land manager, as a public insurance and tax collector, and as a volunteer fireman, receiving a medal of valor for risking his life in saving an elderly woman from a burning home.  Eugene's family was the core of his life, so he and Julia with the help of his sister Agnes and mother Maria left communist Poland and came to America for a better life for his children in 1966.

After moving to the United States, he worked for Indiana Moulding, Roll Coater, and Teledyne Casting Service here in La Porte.  He was also a handy-man, do-it-yourselfer, and a house flipper before it was popular.  He was a self-taught accordion player who loved to socialize and play his accordion when getting together with their many friends.  He was most proud to see his children and grandchildren have the better life that he had always wanted for them.

Eugene is also survived by three children, Anna (Morris) Coats of Carmel, Indiana, Casey (Sandy) Kosior of Indianapolis, Indiana and Mark (Amy) Kosior of La Porte, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Johnnie, Monica and Emily Coats, Nicholas and Jacob Kosior, Chelsea Francisco, Mason, Alexa and Ava Kosior; and two great-grandchildren, Caroline Francisco and Kennedy Kosior.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Zofia Kosior; and two sisters, Agnes Duda and Eva Brwar.
