Esther (Krueger) Maerz

Esther Maerz, 95, of La Porte, Indiana, peacefully joined her husband and daughters on October 29, 2017.

Esther was born on November 14, 1921 to Harold and Frieda (Gehne) Krueger.

She married John Maerz of La Porte, Indiana and had two amazing daughters, Avonne (Loucks) Herbst and Joanna Kloss.  She has three grandchildren, Brent Loucks, and his wife Lori, Trina Loucks, and Kathaleen (Kloss) Smith, and her husband Ray; three great-grandchildren, Katelyn Smith, Brent Loucks and Andrea Archuleta; one sister; and many nieces and nephews.

Esther lived her life on the family farm next to her son-in-law, Don Kloss.  She retired from Gateway, in Michigan City, Indiana, where she was a valued member of the corporation.  She was a member of La Porte County Saddle Club and over the years enjoyed horseback riding, camping, and reading.  She also loved to play cards with her sisters and nieces every Wednesday and was known for her outstanding ability to bake.  Everyone loved her pies and cakes.

Per her wishes, a memorial gathering will be planned by her granddaughter next spring where family and friends can gather and share all the great memories we have of Esther.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
