Dolores Jane (Peters) Welsh

Dolores Jane Peters Welsh peacefully passed on February 19, 2018 at Avalon Springs Health Center in Valparaiso, Indiana. She was born on August 3, 1922 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Edward and Mary (Gibson) Peters and lived most of her life in the Union Mills, Indiana area.

In 1940 she graduated from Hanna High School. She married Noble “Bud” Welsh on January 9, 1941. They had three sons, Tom (Jean) Welsh, deceased, Dick (Carol) Welsh, and Edward (Connie) Welsh, all of Union Mills, Indiana. She is succeeded by eight grandchildren, Bud, Kevin, Daryl, Matt, Tobi Bednarski, Rick, Kurt and Mary Blazek; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

She was a longtime member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church and was a past educator and choir member. She enjoyed and was an active member for over twenty years in the La Porte County senior citizen entertainment group, “Fun Follies”. Country living, card playing, traveling, reading, music and dancing were her favorite pastimes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1968; son, Tom; brother, Phillip (Judy) Peters; three sisters, Phyllis (Byron) Guse, Eunice (Alvin) Werner and Joanne (Don) Shei. Her sister, Mary (Eric) Nielsen survives.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 110 East Hamilton Street, Union Mills, Indiana 46382. Family and friends may visit at the church from 9-10 a.m. before the service. Burial will follow in Hanna Cemetery.
