Dolores M. (Pliska) Sweeney

Dolores M. Sweeney, 92, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, formerly of La Porte, Indiana passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 in Ft. Wayne.  Dolores was born August 5, 1923 in La Porte, Indiana to Peter Felix and Agnes (Tesmer) Pliska.  Dolores was a homemaker most of her life.  On April 22, 1944 Dolores married James E. Sweeney who preceded her in death on January 23, 1979.  After becoming a widow Dolores worked at Woolworths Five and Dime in La Porte.

Dolores leaves behind a son, James Peter Sweeney of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; a grandson, James George (Fiancée, Aubrey Minnick) Sweeney of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and nieces, Lillian Niendorf, Diane Taylor, and Denise Brooks.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Dolores Kyes; sisters, Lillian Wikel, Agnes Parker, and Martha Ehrick; and brothers, Frank and Peter Pliska.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016 in the Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, ESSLING CHAPEL, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a Parish Wake service will be at 5 p.m.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in La Porte with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and Friends may gather Friday at 9 a.m. in the funeral home.  

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Parish which she was a member since 1944.
