David M. Povlock, 73, of LaPorte, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 29, 2014. He was born June 5, 1941 in LaPorte to Raymond & Josephine (Peterson) Povlock. David was employed with Laborers Union Local #81 for General Construction & Tonn Blank Construction. On February 14, 1962, David married Judith K. Johnson who survives with their children, Tonya (Andy) Kalenowsky of Michigan City, Indiana, Dale (Melody) Povlock of LaPorte, Indiana; sisters, Barbara Smith of LaPorte, Indiana, and Marie Gaddy of Kingsford Heights, Indiana; a brother, Don Povlock; & several nieces and nephews. His parents, a granddaughter, Sarah B. Hudson; sisters, Anita Shimanek, Joan Koeppen; and brother, John Povlock all preceded him in death. David had attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, was a past member of the PRCU Club, and a past member of the Eagles Lodge #2439. He was an avid car collector who attending numerous shows and won several trophy's for his cars. He graduated in 1960 from Barber School in Houston, Texas and had owned Barber shops in New Carlisle and Rolling Prairie. Most recently he had worked at Don's Barber Shop in Michigan City. Funeral services will at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in the Essling Funeral Home, 1117 Indiana Avenue, LaPorte, Indiana, where family & friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday prior to services.
