Welcome to the memorial page for

Dana Alexander

January 23, 1961 ~ May 20, 2016 (age 55) 55 Years Old

Dana Lea Alexander, 55, of Laporte, Indiana, passed away on Friday May 20, 2016 at her home from ALS.    Dana was born on January 23, 1961 in Ottumwa Iowa; to James Perdue and Dixie (Rominger) Perdue, who preceded her in death.

She was a registered nurse and worked as office manager for La Porte Osteopathic Family Practice until her illness made working impossible.  She served honorably as a second lieutenant in the Army National Guard for 9 years.  She loved helping others and volunteering in the community regularly.  As a member of St John’s Lutheran Church; she served as a Sunday school teacher and Youth Group leader.  While a member of La Porte Pop Warner she became the Cheer Coordinator, coached many levels of cheer, and assisted anywhere else she could help.  She was Camp Director for Cub Scouts Day Camp for numerous summers.  She stared in a movie “What about the Children (2011)”.

Despite her deteriorating condition since her diagnosis of ALS in 2012 she never complained.  She had a contagious love of life, and a laugh that was infectious as well.   She loved spending time with her family. She was a role model, leader, coach, generous, kind, caring, and giving without expecting anything in return.

Dana’s generosity, kindness, and adventurous spirit will be missed.  Dana leaves behind her husband Clayton B Alexander (married on February 24, 1987); her children, Felicia L Menear, Haley J Alexander, Ashley N Alexander, Nathaniel R Alexander, Racheal G Alexander, Abigail D Alexander, and Isaac J Alexander; her grandchildren Evangeline K Menear, Christopher C Menear, Mason E Stone, Alexandria D Menear, Thaddeus S Menear; father, James P Perdue Sr; Brother, James P Perdue; sister, Debra K Hammond; nieces Chrissy Silvers, Robby L Hammond, Jessica C Hammond, Keeley A Perdue, Alexis N Perdue  ;nephews Edward A Hammond, James P Perdue III.
